West Vancouver Retractable Patio Screens
Project Case Study · West Vancouver, BC
Open to the garden. Defined when needed. At this West Vancouver residence, retractable exterior screens span several large openings between a covered lounge, dining area and hot-tub deck, allowing the outdoor spaces to shift without losing their connection to the landscape.
The screens add a controllable edge to the outdoor rooms while keeping the architecture, views and sense of openness intact.

A screen strategy that follows the architecture
Several outdoor-use zones are linked by the same dark framing language. Screen housings and side guides follow the existing window trim, stonework and roof geometry, helping the system sit quietly within the architecture.
With the screens raised, the covered areas remain open to the lawn, garden and adjoining outdoor spaces. When lowered, the same openings take on a more defined screened edge.
Screens down. Garden still visible.
When lowered, the mesh panels create a consistent visual boundary around the patio structure while retaining views through to the surrounding landscape. The hot-tub area remains bright and distinctly outdoors rather than becoming a sealed room.
For projects where everyday wind exposure, visual screening or privacy are priorities, the appropriate fabric and system should be selected around the site conditions, opening dimensions and intended use.
One system. Several ways to use the space.
The project photographs show fully retracted, partially lowered and fully lowered screen positions. That range allows each opening to support a different balance of openness and visual screening as the outdoor space is used.
Keep the inside-outside relationship.
From the covered lounge, the screened outdoor area reads as a natural continuation of the home. Sightlines remain focused on the hot-tub deck, lawn and mature planting beyond.
Dark framing. Quiet integration.
Across both outdoor zones, matching dark frames and retractable screens create a consistent visual language. The screen layout follows the architectural lines and complements the restrained black, grey and natural-material palette visible throughout the residence.

Product brand, model, operating method, wind rating, certification, warranty and pricing are not stated.
