BUILDING ENVELOPE · VANCOUVER

Minimal sliding doors for large glass openings.

ARTMETA supports slim aluminum sliding-door applications, including the EKOS SKYVIEW36TH solution, where sightlines, glass size and movement need to align with the building envelope. We review tracks, thresholds, drainage, structure, glazing and installation interfaces before final selection.

What makes a minimal slider work.

Sightlines

Slim profiles only work visually when panel proportions, interlocks, frames and adjacent finishes are composed together.

Glass + movement

Large panels require appropriate glass selection, hardware, rolling performance and safe handling during delivery and installation.

Threshold + drainage

Track recesses, exterior grade, waterproofing and drainage are coordinated with the building envelope—not added after fabrication.

Early coordination matters.

For new construction, involve the door system before slab edges, waterproofing, structure and finished floor elevations are fixed. Retrofit projects need a careful review of the existing opening and access route.

Common questions.

Can minimal sliding systems use very large glass panels?

Potential panel size depends on the selected system, glass make-up, wind and structural requirements, handling access and project-specific engineering. Final limits are confirmed during technical review.

Can the track be recessed?

Recessed-track concepts can be reviewed where waterproofing, drainage, slab geometry and maintenance access are coordinated from the beginning.

Is this suitable for retrofit?

Some retrofit openings are suitable, but existing structure, waterproofing, access, dimensions and finish interfaces must be verified first.

Start with the opening, the space and the target date.

Send drawings, photos, rough dimensions, project location and timing. ARTMETA will identify the next practical step before final product selection or quotation.

Product availability, code requirements, engineering, installation scope and final compliance are confirmed for the specific project and written quotation.
