Steel & Glass Interior Doors and Partitions in Vancouver
Interior steel-and-glass systems define rooms without giving up daylight. The useful decisions are frame proportion, glass, door operation, hardware, acoustic intent, adjacent construction and installation tolerance—not decorative grid pattern alone.
System types
One visual language, several opening types.
Fixed glazed partitions
Steel-framed fixed glass can divide offices, studies, wine rooms, hospitality spaces and residential interiors while maintaining visual connection.
Hinged steel glass doors
Single or paired doors should be coordinated for clear opening, swing, floor condition, handles, latches, closers and adjacent fixed glass.
Pivot doors
Pivot configurations change floor and head hardware, clearances, panel weight and detailing. They need early coordination rather than a late hardware substitution.
Sliding steel glass doors
Sliding systems can preserve circulation space, but track support, floor guide, soft-close or locking requirements and panel weight must be defined.
Specification inputs
Define what the partition needs to do.
- Overall opening size and module rhythm
- Clear or patterned safety glazing
- Door type, swing and clear opening
- Handle, latch, lock and closer requirements
- Acoustic intent and privacy
- Floor, ceiling and wall attachment
- Powder-coated or other finish direction
- Fire-rating requirements, if any, confirmed separately
Where fire resistance, smoke control or a specific acoustic rating is required, the project must use a documented assembly appropriate to that requirement. A decorative steel-and-glass partition should not be assumed to carry a rating.
Rooms & applications
Separate a space.
Keep the light.
Start with how the room should work, then choose the opening, glass and frame composition. Each concept is reviewed against the available system and project conditions.
Living rooms & open kitchens
Define cooking, dining and living areas with glazed doors and fixed panels. Choose single or paired hinged doors, pivot or sliding operation to suit the circulation and available space.
Hallways & entrances
Bring borrowed light into an interior entrance or corridor. Coordinate a glazed door with sidelights or a transom to follow the proportions of the opening.
Home offices & studies
Create a dedicated work area with a visual connection to the home. Review privacy glass, door seals and acoustic expectations together.
Bedrooms & dressing rooms
Give dressing areas their own boundary with clear, textured or obscured glazing. Select the operation around furniture, circulation and privacy.
Wine rooms & display spaces
Frame a collection with steel and glass. Temperature-controlled rooms need separate review of insulation, seals, condensation and the cooling enclosure.
Offices, retail & hospitality
Define meeting rooms, reception areas and customer spaces with a consistent frame language. Coordinate access, glazing, hardware and any required performance documentation.
Design & configuration
Make the details belong together.
Glass & privacy
Explore clear, reeded, frosted or tinted glass, subject to system compatibility and sourcing. Safety glazing and thickness are selected for the opening and application.
Frame & finish
Consider dark, light or warm neutral finishes, confirmed with physical samples. Profile size, coating and fabrication details follow the selected steel system.
Grid & composition
Compare uninterrupted glass, horizontal divisions, balanced grids or asymmetric layouts. Arched compositions and custom shapes are reviewed for fabrication feasibility.
Hardware & installation
Coordinate handles, latches, locks, stops and compatible closing hardware. Review pivot support, sliding track support, floor guides and installation tolerances before fabrication.
Doors can be studied with matching fixed panels, sidelights and transoms. Available configurations, finishes, hardware and delivery scope are confirmed in the project proposal.
From idea to installation
A clear path for your project.
01 · Share the space
Send the project city, photographs or drawings, approximate opening sizes, preferred operation and target schedule.
02 · Review the configuration
Resolve the layout, frame, glass, hardware, supporting construction and measurement responsibilities.
03 · Confirm the proposal
Review drawings, samples, price, lead time and the supply and installation scope before authorizing fabrication.
04 · Coordinate delivery
Confirm site readiness, delivery, installation responsibilities, adjustment and handover for the agreed scope.
Common questions
Interior steel-and-glass planning.
Does a glazed steel partition soundproof a room?
Not automatically. Glass thickness, seals, perimeter construction, door gaps and the complete wall assembly determine acoustic performance. Set the acoustic target before selecting the system.
Can the frame be very slim?
Often yes, but sightline depends on panel size, structural requirements, door hardware, fabrication method and the selected profile. Slimmer is not always the only design criterion.
Can ARTMETA coordinate office and residential interiors?
Yes for qualified projects. Send the plan, elevations, opening dimensions, door requirements, glass, finish and project location so the supply and installation path can be reviewed.
ARTMETA / PROJECT COORDINATION
Define the grid, glass and hardware before fabrication.
For office TI and larger workplace partition packages, scope may overlap with DEARTREE's workplace-interiors platform. The responsible project entity and quotation path are confirmed before contracting.
